Last year CoolMiniOrNot released their cooperative deck-building game
Xenoshyft: Onslaught, which has been very well received and got high marks in a Dice Tower
video review. So why not release an expansion for it?
Xenoshyft: Dreadmire aims to do just that as it is a stand alone expansion for Xenoshyft: Onslaught. This means that even if you don't have Onslaught, you can purchase this game and it has all the bits and boards needed to be able to play the entire game. Alternatively, if you do have Onslaught, you will be able to mix and match cards between the sets to revitalize the game and bring in some more challenges (because that's exactly what the game needs, more difficulty).

But as with any expansion, does this one change or add to the game? Aside from the plethora of new items, weapons, armor, and enemies to fight, now the planet itself is a factor in the fight with weather effects. Each round you will draw a weather card which will tell you if it's foggy, night time, or a monsoon, which will then trigger specific extra abilities on the monsters to make them even more dangerous. But the weather works in your favor too as some items you can obtain have special abilities that trigger during certain weather conditions. Then there is a revamp to the rules to make the difficulty curve a little smoother and changes to the division cards which make this game a must have for Xenoshyft fans.
You can head over to the
campaign page to check it out and pledge for you copy. The game is already funded and multiple stretch goals have been unlocked, adding even more cards to the game, so don't miss out.
