If you had problems with the Kickstarter being slow yesterday it was mostly like around the time that the latest
Zombicide project launched. Titled
Zombicide: Black Plague and funded in minutes the game that helped make Cool Mini or Not a major player in the board game world is back and looking to break records again.
Zombicide: Black Plague brings the game into an area it's never been before; a fantasy setting.
Zombicide: Black Plague is a standalone cooperative board game for 1 to 6 players that brings the relentless zombie-killing action of Zombicide into a brand new fantasy setting! Players control a party of survivors as they fight to rid the land of an invasion of zombies controlled by the game itself. Survivors find weapons, learn spells, battle zombies, and gain experience. The more experienced they get, the more powerful they become, but the more zombies rise to face them!
But
Black Plague isn't just the same game in a different setting. There are several changes to the game as well. Perhaps the biggest change is the 'dashboard' that each player will receive to help organize their character. Basically it's a plastic tray that will hold your character cards with special designated areas that work perfectly with a new inventory system. It also contains a sliding experience tracker and a peg markers for wounds and a skill tracker. The new inventory system assigns items to a specific slot to be used. For example armor must be worn on the body, weapons and spells equipped in the hands, and items like arrows can be stashed away in a backpack.

Additionally new fantasy races like dwarves and elves are added to the game and come with unique abilities that help them fight the undead hordes. But watch out, the undead are now being raised by living and breathing necromancers with great power and when they enter the board the number of zombies increases more and more! The necromancers don't want to fight though, instead they try to escape you and continue to bring more living dead onto the board.
Zombicide: Black Plague comes with
- 9 double-sided game tiles
- 71 miniatures
- 6 survivor plastic dashboards, color bases, and ID Cards
- 48 plastic trackers

However an enormous amount of stretch goals have already been reached and the box contents have been increased dramatically. At this time there is still a lot of time left for the project to add even more.
Keeping in the tradition of Cool Mini or Not Kickstarters there is already an expansion for the game that adds a lot more miniatures, tiles, and other game components. For
Black Plague the expansion is called
Zombicide: Wulfsburg and introduces not only 4 more heroes that will allow you play up to 10 survivors at the same time but very cool looking zombie wolf miniatures.
Zombicide: Wulfsburg comes with
- 2 double-sided game tiles
- 22 zombie wolf miniatures
- 4 survivor miniatures and ID cards
- 4 plastic dashboards and color bases

The Zombicide series has been a huge hit for Cool Mini or Not and has always come with extremely well made miniatures so bringing the game into a fantasy setting is sure be hit for them.
