Munchkin Misery! Steve Jackson Games and Atlas Games join forces to release Munchkin Gloom

March 13, 2015 - 9:50pm
The selfish, greedy, inconsiderate jerks of the Munchkin world are about to be paid back in full. Similarly to Munchkin Panic and Munchkin Loot Letter, Munchkin Gloom is a collaboration across company lines…taking the core play of Atlas Games's Gloom and adding altered cards more thematic to Steve Jackson Games's Munchkin Universe. Most people know Muchkin as one of the best-selling hobby card games of all time. Gloom is one of Atlas Games most famous titles, immediately recognizable due to its transparent cards, a unique yet simple mechanism. Stacking cards on top of each other hides/reveals text and statistics through the stack, either brightening or (hopefully) darkening the life of the targeted character. Back in 2012, Gloom even appeared on Wil Wheaton's Tabletop. True to its name, Gloom is a card game celebrating life's gradual descent into pain, dark despair and eventual death. If you find the Addams Family funny (I sure do!) you will love the humor of Gloom. Just like in the regular game, the object of Munchkin Gloom is to have your group of characters suffer the most…the player whose characters live the worst lives wins the game. Mumchkin Gloom contains 110 transparent cards. Plays in about 60 minutes. And requires 2-4 tragedy-loving players.  Other existing Gloom stand-alone games (which Munchkin Gloom is 100% compatible with) include Cthulhu Gloom and Fairytale Gloom.
