Movies such as
The Prestige and
The Illusionist gave us a taste of what life is like being a professional magician: the dedication, originality, science, and flair that it takes to be a stage performer in a time when magic shows were high entertainment. Trickerion: Legends of Illusion, now on Kickstarter, seeks to provide that same experience, casting its players in the role of the awe-inspiring magician. Trickerion is a worker placement game in which players manage apprentices and specialists, to gather the necessary supplies, research new illusions, and prepare for a weekly stage performance in order to gain fame, money, and shards of the mysterious Trickerion Stone. From the
campaign's page:
Each turn, you will visit Magoria’s various Locations – the Downtown, the Market Row, the Dark Alley and the Theater – to expand your team, learn more and more intricate magic tricks, get components for them, and prepare them in your Workshop. Each turn concludes with a Performance phase in the Theater, when players may perform a breathtaking magic show for Fame points and money. After the sixth Performance phase, the player with the most Fame points wins the game, and becomes the next Legend of Illusion.

Trickerion will feature eight different mages with unique powers and a built in Dark Alley expansion. A secondary pledge level grants access to another expansion allowing illusionists to grow in power as they procure more Trickerion shards. The campaign is close to breaking $200,000 of funding and is slated to close on February 28 at 8am. Be sure to check out
this opportunity before it disappears.
