Gil Hova Classifies Recreational Games

gil hova In a recent article written by game designer Gil Hova (Battle Merchants, Prolix), Hova breaks down and classifies recreational games into three categories in ‘A simple taxonomy for recreational games.’ The three types of categories Hova identifies are contests, puzzles, and worlds.  Hova states that the focus is “on games that are commercially available for recreational purposes: mainly tabletop games and video games. These are the games I’m most interested in playing and designing.
