Horizon Zero Dawn - The Board Game on Kickstarter

September 11, 2018 - 6:22am
Horizon Zero Dawn - The Board Game is a semi-cooperative, tactical game for 1-4 players based on the immensely popular Horizon Zero Dawn video game for the Playstation 4 console. Its designed by Sherwin Matthews (who also adapted Resident Evil 2 into a board game) with art by Doug Telford (who has done artwork for Guild Ball) and will be published by Steamforged Games Ltd through Kickstarter. Players are assigned a dangerous quarry by the Hunter's Lodge who then choose a tribe and class for their hunter. Each hunter has a distinct play style with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. They'll then go on an adventure through the wilds facing a variety of machines and events along the way, until they face a lethal boss at the end of the trail. If a single hunter dies, the game ends for everyone so it's important for players to pay attention on and work with their allies. There is a Tracking Deck where players choose a path to follow with easier ones providing fewer resources to spend with merchants while more challenging trails, with more formidable adversaries, provides better rewards. Horizon Zero Dawn - The Board Game will be on Kickstarter until Friday, September 28th, and has already surpassed its funding goal by 400%. The project has a single funding level as they're aiming to get first time crowdfunders outside of the hobby onboard. There is a large amount of miniatures in this project so its important to look through all the add-ons to see if you'd like to add any of the larger ones in the expansions. The estimated delivery date for the game is March 2020.
