Board Games go Digital with Stockpile

July 20, 2018 - 10:17am

A digital game that is set to make its debut at GenCon at the Nauvoo booth from developer Digidiced is also ready for beta invites. Stockpile, an economic board game with stockholding strategies of buying low and selling high, is combined with other mechanisms to keep players guessing. Players act as investors hoping to strike it rich, with whomever makes the most money at the end of the game as winner, using both insider information and the stockpile. Each round, the players are given insider information that will dictate how a stock’s value will change by the end of the round, helping them to decide when to buy and sell.

Players will purchase their stocks by bidding on the stockpiles - that is, piles of cards with a mixture of face-up and face-down cards placed by others. Trading fees can mess up the piles by making players pay more. Players will interact with one another by putting stocks and cards up for auction. This is a heavy strategy execution game, with players deciding when to sell and when to hang on in hopes of being the majority shareholder. The game will be available on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. It will feature online play as well as pass and play and 3 different computer opponent levels. It will also be available in a variety of languages worldwide. More information can be found out here.
