Winter is Coming... to Star Wars: Legion

December 24, 2017 - 6:39pm
Fantasy Flight Games has announced two new expansions for the Star Wars: Legion miniatures game designed by Alex Davy. Both the General Veers Commander Expansion and the Snowtroopers expansion will have Imperial Forces ready to battle Rebel scum on Hoth or wherever else they might try to hide. General Veers Commander Expansion

“General, prepare your troops for a surface attack.” –Darth Vader, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

A recognized expert in ground combat and a tactical genius when it comes to the use of walkers, Imperial players will get a massive advantage with General Veers on the battlefield. Veers is especially well regarded after his surface attach on Hoth, something rebel players are unlikely to forget anytime soon. The General Veers expansion will include an unpainted General Veers miniature as well as his three personal command cards. This expansion pack will also include a unit card for General Veers as well as upgrade cards to use with either Veers or other units for battle in hostile environments. General Veers plays double duty in Star Wars Legion, acting on his own with his lightsaber and prowess of Force while at the same time inspiring other units. Not just a master with a blaster, Veers can coordinate the attacks of others, providing friendly units aim tokens. Armies in Star Wars Legion may have up to two Commander rank units in play, allowing players to choose both General Veers and Darth Vader. Players can now send Darth Vader into the fray while General Veers issues orders from behind. Snowtroopers

“Imperial troops have entered the base!” –Echo Base alarm

Sometimes it feels like there are no planets out there too remote or unpleasant for the Rebels to try to hide on. Fortunately for Imperial players, they can now send Snowtroopers onto planets like Hoth to eliminate the Rebel scum. The new Snowtroopers expansion includes seven unpainted Snowtrooper miniatures that enter the field as a single unit, as well as a variety of upgrade cards. Similar to the original Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers will feature identical upgrade slots and come with standard issue E-11 blaster rifles. Snowtroopers will move a little slower, weighed down with insulated army, using the shortest of the Legion's movement tools to represent their speed of one. With the steady ability, Snowtroopers will be able to move and make a free ranged attack as a single activation. Snowtroopers will also have access to the T-7 ion disruptor rifle, allowing them to target vehicles with ease. Star Wars: Legion Launched at GenCon 50, Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Legion is a new infantry level miniatures game set in the iconic Star Wars universe. The base set includes thirty-three unpainted miniatures, cards, movement tools, tokens, and terrain. The game is recommended for two players aged 14+ and takes about two hours to play.
