X-Men: Insurrection announced by Fantasy Flight Games

August 5, 2020 - 9:14pm

“Fifty miles north of New York City, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters may seem like just another affluent private school for exceptional students. Few could guess that these students are mutants, and fewer still know that Xavier’s School is the headquarters of the X-Men—a team of heroic mutants fighting to protect humanity from superhuman threats!”

X-Men: Mutant Insurrection is a fast-paced, cooperative, dice-driven game for 1-6 players where players send the famous mutants around the globe performing missions. The game is designed by Richard Launius (known for Arkham Horror) and Brandon Perdue and produced by Fantasy Flight Games. Each game play session is expected to last around 45 – 90 mins.

Each player builds a team of mutants picking from 16 characters such as Cyclops, Rogue, Wolverine, and Storm, and can join forces with Shadowcat, Magik, and Forge. Each mutant has different dice and special abilities which should be considered for each mission before they’re sent on The Blackbird. There are 8 distinct scenarios which lead to showdowns against villains such as Magneto, Dark Phoenix, or the Hellfire Club. Each mission begins with a plot and story card, followed by a trail of story cards and ultimately leading to a showdown.
