Wonder Woman boardgame from Ravensburger & Prospero Hall is releasing March 1st

February 20, 2020 - 5:51pm

Wonder Woman: Challenge of the Amazons is a cooperative game for 2-5 players being published by Ravensburger. The game is designed by Prospero Hall, the studio that also designed Horrified and Villainous. The box cover artist is Jenny Frison, a renowned comic book illustrator.

Each player will take on the role of one of five heroes (Diana, Artemis, Philippus, Nu'bia, or Mala) to defend the island of Themyscira from attack by one of three villains (Ares, the Cheetah, or Circe). Each hero has a unique ability that could affect setup or gameplay. Each villain has a unique deck and utilizes common game components in a different manner.

Each round, player are dealt five cards, two face-up and three face-down. From this information, players will strategize about how to deal with the threat to the island. After this phase, players will draw all five cards and individually select three to place face-down in their action slots. During this card selection phase, players cannot communicate. Next, players will reveal their first card and begin taking actions. They can once again communicate during this phase. This communication limitation is an interesting design to mitigate any co-op quarterbacking.
