Villainous goes Marvel
Villainous has let players take on the personas of their favorite villains from classic Disney cartoons. Now, the villains of the Marvel cinematic universe will have their turn in Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power, for two to four players. Each player will choose one of the included Marvel villains to play as: Thanos, Hela, Ultron, Killmonger, and Taskmaster. If you do not recognize Taskmaster from the Marvel cinematic universe, that is because the movie he is in had its release date pushed back.
Just like in the original Villainous, each villain has an individual objective they are trying to accomplish to win the game. Each player has their own domain board with multiple action spaces and their own villain deck. Each turn players will move their pawn to a different action space and resolve as many of the actions for that space as they choose. There is also a fate deck comprised of common fate cards, as well as fate cards from each villain in the game. Fate cards typically are played against a chosen opponent to interfere with their scheming. For example, the fate deck includes heroes of the Marvel universe that when played on an opponent, will block some of the actions for an individual action space, until the hero is defeated. All players drawing from the same fate deck is a change from the original Villainous, where each player had an individual fate deck. Marvel Villainous also has three different difficulty modes, based on whether players incorporate event cards into the fate deck.
Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power is designed by Prospero Hall and published by Ravensburger. Prior entries in this series have excellent components, and the Marvel version appears to follow suit. The game is scheduled to be available in August 2020. How good are you at being bad?
