Stronghold Announces Ares Expedition, the Terraforming Mars card game

Stronghold Games has shaken the world and announced Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition, further subtitled “The Terraforming Mars Card Game”. 2016’s Terraforming Mars by Jacob Fryxelius is, of course, one of the most popular board games on the market today, currently sitting at 4 on the BGG rankings. Terraforming Mars’ combination of engine building, card play, and the immense variety of cards have made it an evergreen in the hobby, and earned it 5 expansions.

Ares Expedition is a standalone game being designed by Jacob Fryxelius, along with Indie Boards & Cards’ resident developer Nick Little, and Stronghold’s director of game development, Sydney Engelstein. The game promises “faster gameplay and over 200 beautifully illustrated cards”; William Briker, illustrator for Tiny Epic Galaxies and Egizia: Shifting Sands is credited as artist. This new game will be crowdfunded on Kickstarter, where a sparse preview page is available to view, however the launch date for the Kickstarter Campaign has not been released as of yet.
