Stonemaier Games Announces My Little Scythe Expansion and REAL April Fool's Day Products

April 1, 2020 - 1:30pm

April Fool's Day is always a time for joking fake news and other announcements, and the board game world is no exception.  This year, Stonemaier Games, publisher of excellent games such as ViticultureScythe, and Tapestry (that's right - I went there), decided to pull a double-ninja move and announce THREE very real new offerings consisting of an expansion for My Little Scythe, some tongue-in-cheek game accessories and a digital adaptation of Charterstone - at least so it would seem on this day of guarded suspicion.

My Little Scythe: Pie in the Sky is the long-awaited expansion to Stonemaier Games' family-weight version of its megahit Scythe, which was based off a fan-made My Little Pony version.  More details about the expansion will be announced over the next two weeks.  This expansion will be available for pre-order starting on April 29th.

Also announced by Stonemaier are two new, very real but also self-depracating, game accessories available now from their online store.  The first is a set of five chocolated-colored candy egg trays, which are just perfect for helping players distinguish real chocolate eggs from the egg components in Wingspan.  The second is a logo-embossed reading glass to aid players in reading the small card text found in many Stonemaier games (Jamey has heard your plea).  Joking aside, proceeds from both of these products will go to help those struggling with acquiring basic necessities in the wake of the current global pandemic.  Those in need of assitance are asked to apply by April 5th via Stonemaier Games' website.

Finally, Stonemaier Games has also announced that the digital adaptation of its legacy game Charterstone is now available on both Steam and iOS.  The Android version will be available soon once approved via the Google Play process.  Players can choose to play against either human opponents or the AI.
