March 3, 2020 - 8:42pm

The Search for Planet X was successfully kickstarted in October 2019 by Foxtrot Games. That project is scheduled to deliver to the 1,177 backers in May 2020. Renegade Games has announced that they will be co-publishing a retail release scheduled to hit shelves in June 2020, with pre-orders open now.

The Search for Planet X is a competitive deduction game for 1-4 players that utilizes a companion app to generate variable setups each game. Players take on the role of astronomers searching for a distant planet. Different objects in the solar system adhere to predefined logic rules. As you learn the location of these objects, you will begin to narrow down the possible locations of Planet X. On your turn, you can scan multiple sectors for a particular object type, target a sector to learn what object it contains, or research the relationship between objects. Players also can attend conferences to publish theories on the locations of certain objects. Players score points by publishing theories and being the first player to locate Planet X.

The game is designed by Ben Rosset and Matthew O'Malley, with art by Michael Pedro and James Masino.
