Robinson Crusoe Collector's Edition coming to GameFound

February 25, 2021 - 4:23pm

Polish powerhouses Portal Games and Awaken Realms have teamed up and announced Robinson Crusoe: Collector’s Edition coming soon to the GameFound crowdfunding site. Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island (2012) from designer Ignacy Trzewiczek is a co-op adventure board game which pits 1-4 players alone on an island, trying to survive in the face of a variety of dangers. The game, ranked in the top 100 on BoardGameGeek, is (in)famous for its immersive tension, and for its greater than average difficulty. This is not the first time the two Polish companies have worked together – the 2016 asymmetric area control game Cry Havoc featured miniatures designed and made by the Awaken Realms team.

This new edition of Robinson Crusoe will include detailed miniatures for all characters plus deluxe components, all created by the talented team at Awaken Realms. Additionally, a new companion app will contain over 300 new adventure and event cards for the weary castaways, plus thematic audio. Given the nature of cards in Robinson Crusoe (cards introduce new elements, then are shuffled back into the deck, only to come up again as later plot points), the app could add extra dimensions. And for those who found this daunting game difficult to learn, the Collector’s Edition will come with a 4-scenario tutorial campaign, easing players into this masterpiece of immersion. Finally, new cover art from Dominic Mayer will grace the cover.

The GameFound campaign for Robinson Crusoe: Collector’s Edition will also include the much anticipated Book of Adventures, containing 20 new scenarios, including variants for existing scenarios. The new adventures are organized by length and difficulty, promising a “board game for everyone, regardless of their age or board game experience.” The GameFound campaign for Robinson Crusoe: Collector’s Edition and The Book of Adventures is scheduled to start March 23, 2021, and promises to include an upgrade pack for existing owners of the game, just including the most important new components.
