Rio Grande releases new Dominion expansion Menagerie
"Dominion, that's what you're trying to achieve. This time with animals! They each have a lesson to teach, whether it's how to spit really far or what kind of grass tastes the best. It's a lot to keep track of, but you're like an elephant: you remember everything. And you're afraid of mice."
Dominion (2008) from Rio Grande Games and designer Donald X. Vaccarino was one of the games that changed board gaming, introducing the omnipresent deck building mechanic. Dominion went on to win the coveted Spiel des Jahres award in 2009, and continues to be a top seller today, ranking in the top 100 games on BGG. The game continues to be an evergreen bestseller with regular expansions keeping the game fresh.
Now the latest expansion to Dominion, Menagerie, has hit the market running, bringing animals to this deck building medieval world. Menagerie has players start with dogs, but build up to horses, rats, goats, foxes and more. Some inspire fear, some give more opportunity for growth. Menagerie is the 13th expansion to Dominion, adds 400 new cards and 30 new Kingdom Cards. New cards include Horses that save a draw for later, Exile mats that cards can be sent to and rescued from, and Ways that give Actions another option.
