Reach Out to a Higher Plane in Arcana Rising

August 5, 2020 - 10:33am

Grey Fox Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its latest title, Arcana Rising.  The game was designed by Tim Armstrong, possibly best known for the game 2018's Orbis, with artwork provided by Yaroslav Radeckyi.  Arcana Rising plays 2-6 players, ages 14 and up, and takes between 20-60 minutes depending on player count.

Arcana Rising is billed as "a drafting and engine building game of moons and magic."  In the game, the players are magic students trying to both acquire artifacts and different spells in order to score the most points at the end of the game.  On their turns, players will draft a card from the stack that they are passed by a neighboring player.  The players must then decide whether to keep or discard the cards, each action providing its own benefits or rewards.  The game will end after 3 rounds.

The Kickstarter campaign for Arcana Rising has already funded and there are about 3 more weeks left.  The rule book is posted, multiple videos are available for viewing, and there is a link to Tabletop Simulator if players want to try the game before they pledge.  There are several pledge levels and stretch goals available.  If the game appeals to you, be sure and check out the Kickstarter campaign here.
