25th Century Games is running a Gamefound campaign for a brand new edition of Reiner Knizia’s Ra. Ra was originally issued in 1999 and is considered to be a modern classic. The new edition will feature all new artwork by acclaimed artist Ian O’Toole. The game plays 2-5 players, ages 12 and up, and takes 30-60 minutes to play.
In Ra, the players choose to draw a new tile and add it to the center track board. If a Ra tile is drawn, an auction is triggered. Players can also start an auction by playing the Ra figurine. When an auction, which involves all players, is invoked or triggered, the player to the left of the active player begins the bidding on the center tiles. The winner of the auction then takes all of the tiles and adds them to the player board. Watch out though! If you collect disaster tiles, they will cause you to lose other tiles that you have won. The player with the highest score at game end wins the game. Can you control 1500 years of Egyptian history?
The fully-funded Gamefound campaign for Ra has about 3 weeks left to run at the time of this writing. The Gamefound page has a downloadable copy of the rulebook, as well as links to videos on the game itself. For further information on the game, be sure and check here.
