Portal Games recently hosted a virtual Portal Con and during the con revealed their plans for upcoming games in 2021.  One of the biggest announcements concerned their partnership with Gale Force Nine (GF9), Legendary Entertainment, Herbert Properties LLC, and Genuine Entertainment to produce an officially licensed board games set within the iconic Dune universe, created by science fiction author Frank Herbert. Portal is planning a trilogy set in the Dune universe, using the cooperative game system used in Portal’s award-winning Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game.  The first of the games, Dune: House Secrets, is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2021.  Dune: House Secrets is designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek, well known in the board gaming industry for such games as Stronghold, Prêt-à-Porter, and Imperial Settlers, among others.

Portal Games will also be releasing a new economic strategy game, Eleven: Football Manager GameEleven is a scenario driven game and features 6 different scenarios, challenging the players to adapt their strategies from scenario to scenario.  Eleven is designed by Dutch author Thomas Jansen. It is made for 1-4 players and the game lasts 60-120 minutes, depending on the number of players.

Dreadful Circus is also coming to town.  This card-driven game, designed by famed designer Bruno Faidutti, is for 4-8 players, and plays in about 30-40 minutes.Dreadful Circus is described as a set collection game with a twist - as the game progresses, and more cards are gained, each player develops their very own final scoring rules, so no two games are exactly the same.

In addition to the new games, Portal also announced expansions for some of their existing games.  Empires of the North: The Wrath of the Lighthouse and Neuroshima Hex: Beasts are both due for release in 2021.
