Play CATAN in holographic 3D

Tilt Five raised $1.7 million with a successful Kickstarter campaign for their augmented reality (AR) gaming system in October 2019. The gaming system currently is in the midst of fulfillment for Kickstarter backers. The AR system functions through three items. Users wear glasses that plug into a PC or Android device and project images onto the system's retroreflective game board. This creates a 3D holographic image of the game's components. Players interact with the components via the system's hand-held wand controller.

Tilt Five recently announced that their games catalog is going to add CATAN in spring 2023. CATAN, the 1995 Spiel des Jahres winner designed by Klaus Teuber, sees three to four players settling the titular island, gaining resources, and making trades. The version on Tilt Five will support solo play against an AI, multiplayer games around a single board, and multiplayer games against players anywhere in the world. For those that missed the Kickstarter, Tilt Five currently is taking preorders for the AR system.
