Phil Walker-Harding gives you green thumbs in Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture

June 21, 2022 - 12:50pm

Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture is a new Target-exclusive designed by Phil Walker-Harding, published by Buffalo Games. Two to five players compete to create the best garden of houseplants. Each round players are dealt a hand of six resource cards and two item cards. There are four resources in the game: light, water, plant food, and green thumbs. Two green thumbs count as any one other resource. Item cards can be tools or decorations. Tools will augment future resource cards played. Decorations will provide end-game scoring objectives.

Each turn, players will select a card from their hand to play, then pass their hand of remaining cards to a neighbor. After all players have selected a card, they are simultaneously revealed and resolved. Instead of resolving your selected card, you may take a houseplant from the nursey. Each houseplant has specific resource requirements to make it grow. After everyone has resolved eight cards, players may spend resources to fulfill the grow requirements of their houseplants, gaining victory points. Some plants can grow multiple times. After four rounds, points are totaled based on houseplant growth tokens and decoration objectives.

The Dice Tower YouTube channel has a full rules teach by Stella & Tarrant.
