Pacific Rails Inc bringing worker placement and engine building to KS - Late Pledge Available
“May 10, 2019 marked the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. This epic undertaking connected the United States from coast to coast for the first time. Now is your chance to make history!”
Vesuvius Media, the production company behind Nocturion and the Dwar7s series of games, has a new Kickstarter Campaign ongoing for Pacific Rails Inc., an engine-building worker-placement game by designer Dean Morris. In Pacific Rails, players race to connect their two trains, initially placed at either side of the board, building track over plains, bridges over water, and tunnels through hills. Players use worker placement to collect the resources these tracks require, as well as to hire specialists, and lobby congress for more goods. The worker placement takes place on a city map, where worker spaces are located between action buildings. Players choose a building adjacent to their worker to select their action, while other neighboring workers give bonuses to these actions. Player boards are representations of trains, starting with a locomotive and trailing up to 3 passenger cabins, each of which hold 2 specialists. Pacific Rails includes the wonderful mechanism in which tiles (buildings and telegraph poles) located on a player’s board open up new points and abilities when they are moved onto the main board. All of this juicy engine-building goodness is wrapped up in a gorgeous but functional art style designed by Damien Mammoliti (Brass: Birmingham).
Pacific Rails comes with game and player boards, track tiles, over 250 tokens, as well as train, worker, and progress miniatures. An optional deluxe edition comes with stunning upgraded components, including realistic wood, steel and coin. The Kickstarter Campaign ended January 27, however late pledge is available and the game is expected to deliver in September 2020.
