One does not simply walk into Mordor

Ares Games has announced War of the Ring: The Card Game. On Saturday, June 4th, Ares Games will host the worldwide preview of their new game set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, at their UK Game Expo booth (Hall 1 Booth 302). War of the Ring: The Card Game is a team-based game for two to four players, where each player controls one or more factions. Each faction is aligned either with the Free Peoples or the Shadow Armies, and each faction has its own unique deck. The game will include location cards depicting paths and battlegrounds. Ares Games pitches War of the Ring: The Card Game as being simpler, more portable, and more accessible than its older brother, War of the Ring: Second Edition, an epic experience which spans the events of the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. 

War of the Ring: The Card Game is designed by Ian Brody. He also designs the Quartermaster General series, and interestingly the children's game Santa's Bag. Ares Games projects a retail release for the little brother War of the Ring game in late 2022.
