Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile to get first expansion...someday
Leder Games, publisher of beloved games such as Root, Fort, and Vast: The Crystal Caverns have announced the first expansion for their four-time Golden Geek Award winning game Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile, designed by Cole Wehrle with art by Kyle Ferrin, long time artist for the publisher. The expansion has yet to be given a name or release date.
The expansion is going to include a new deck of cards that players can either add to their existing deck, or have it replace the existing deck entirely. It adds new areas that have “wilder” abilities and effects making these areas more chaotic without increasing the complexity of the game.
In addition, there will be an update to the Chronicle system that is used to determine who gains Chancellor, determines who is exiled, and which areas of the board will have the most resources. The addition will present more agency to those who lost the Chancellorship or did not gain it. As of this writing there weren’t any more details on what this agency might entail.
There has been no word on when the release date might be but in an update on the Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile Kickstarter page, Cole Wehrle states, “There are other projects which are taking up most of our studio bandwidth at the moment, so we won't have a lot of details to share for several more months, but there are some exciting things in the works!”
