New Maglev Metro maps are out of this world
getting two more expansion maps, and this time they take the game to space. Maglev Metro: Moonbases & Mars will have you shuttling passengers along your train lines either on the moon or on Mars and its two moons. In addition to the new setting, each map comes with a few mechanical wrinkles to add variability to your gameplay options with the Maglev Metro system.
The Moonbases map allows you to create your own personal monbase where passengers arrive from Earth, even if your train is elsewhere. You also can connect your track to your opponents' moonbases to pickup their passengers. Movement is farther on the moon, and this map introduces new braking and reverse technology to make passenger transport more efficient.
The Mars map allows you to circumnavigate the red planet, instantly going from one side of the map to the other. You also can launch your train up to deliver passengers to Phobos and Deimos, the moons of Mars. Trains on Mars can move forwards and backwards. Your track building will have to take Mars' difficult terrain into account as it is more costly to build track on canyons, but they provide access to critical stations, including the launch station.
Like the base game, Moonbases & Mars is designed by Ted Alspach. The expansion features art by Alanna Kelsey, who was a co-artist on the base game. The expansion is scheduled for a retail release in 2022, from publisher Bezier Games.
