Civilization: Terra Incognita

Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) has announced Terra Incognita, an upcoming expansion for Sid Meier's Civilization: A New Dawn.

Terra Incognita adds an exploration element to the game, where only part of the modular board is constructed at the beginning of the game. Players can devote movement to exploration to build out the rest of the board during the game. The expansion also increases the maximum player count from four to five, and adds ten new factions you can play. In addition to changing things outside your territory, the expansion also changes how your territory itself operates. Within the areas of your control, you can create five different districts to boost your civilization in different ways. Your civilization in the expansionn is further customized by being able to select your form of government. A revised event dial will determine when the abilities of your district and government can trigger. Combat has also been redefined with the addition of armies.

Terra Incognita is designed by Tony Fanchi, a co-designer of Star Wars: Outer Rim. Artwork for the expansion is by Anders Finér. Along with the expansion, FFG also is releasing a rubber game mat for Civilization. Both are scheduled to arrive later in 2020. For more details, check out the FFG announcement.
