A new Disney TCG is hitting the market in 2023!
Ravensburger has announced it will be releasing Disney Lorcana (developed by Ryan Miller), a new TCG set in the Disney universe. This follows Ravensburger's line of Disney Villainous games they have released over the years.
Not much is known about how the game will play, but they are saying that it will be a traditional TCG like Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon. But Disney Lorcana will be 'less confrontational'; It will maintain a strategy card game, but Disney is hoping that it will be more welcoming to new players than other TGCs on the market. Players take on the role of The Great Illuminary, who oversees Disney's music and stories. They must bring together characters and music to bring the adventures to life.
The card artwork will have a "modern storybook" style to it, and it will be inspired by classic Disney films with vibrant colors and visible outlines of the characters. Ravensburger says that they have a multi-year plan to support the game.
More information and a first look at some of the cards will happen at D23 in Anaheim, CA on September 9, 2022.
