Mystic Libraries and Clanky goodness from Renegade this fall

“The magic exam is tomorrow so you and your classmates head to the library!  With the knock of a magic wand on a precise stack of books — tada! — you can learn an entire subject in an instant.  In exchange for this after-hours intrusion, however, the security guard asks you to clean up and organize the library shelves. So roll up your sleeves and get to work!”

Renegade Game Studios has announced the card drafting puzzle game Atheneum: Mystic Library, by design studio L’Atelier (Obscurio, One Key) and artist Veronika Fedorova. In Atheneum, 2-5 players take on the role of students of the mystic arts, studying in the library for their final exam. But not only do the players need to be prepared for their test, they also need to clean and organize the shelves of books. Every action the player takes will give actions to other students near you, so be careful not to give away valuable resources. Players will score points for full shelves, decorative candles, and shelved books of their favorite subjects.

“The thieves’ guild is recruiting! Clank! Adventuring Party expands your merry band to include up to six players in your dungeon run!”

Renegade also announced a new expansion for Dire Wolf Digital’s popular deck building game Clank! (2016), Clank! Adventuring Party. In Clank!, players use deck-building to race into the dangerous underground, seeking a magical artifact. But beware, because certain actions and cards create noise, alerting the ever-watching dragon to your presence. If the dragon is roused, all of this noise, represented by cubes in player colors, goes into a bag. If your color comes back out of the bag, you get hurt. The first player to grab an artifact and make it back home rains terror down upon the remaining players, drawing more and more cubes from the bag. The surviving player with the most points wins the game.

This new expansion now allows up to 6 players to dive into the dungeons and adds 6 new unique thieving characters, each with their own starting deck of cards. The Dwarf Agnet is good with companions, and the Elf D’allan builds wonderous wooden collections. The Orc Garignar can smash hordes of enemies, while the mage Lenara casts arcane spells. Or will you be MonkeyBot Prime (how could you not?), amassing mighty primate power. Finally, players can become their true feline form as the devious cat Whiskers. Clank! Adventuring Party contains 127 cards, including 6 unique 10 card starting decks, cubes and player markers for 2 more players, side board to track them, 90+ tokens, and a new head monster, Hexavultus the Hydra.
