IKI: Akebono expansion adds more Edo gameplay

January 21, 2023 - 1:58pm

IKI: Akebono is an expansion to IKI and introduces a new location to discover in Edo, Japan. The bridge of Nihonbashi expands the main street and offers players new opportunities where they can stop at the bridge and meet famous personalities from the Edo era such as Hokusai Katsushika (an artist well known for his stylistic wave painting called The Great Wave Off Kanagawa), Sanyo Rai (a historian, artist, poet, and Confucianist philosopher), and Tokunai Mogami (a samurai, explorer, and geographer). Players can trade with ships built by the players in the river.

This expansion adds new character cards, building cards, as well as new pipe, tobacco, and fish tokens.

IKI is a rondel, pattern building, and set collection board game for 2-4 players aged 14+, and is designed by Koota Yamada. Iki Akebono is scheduled to release to retail from publisher Sorry We are French in Summer 2023.
