Hobby World announces new team Spyfall game, Spycon

December 14, 2019 - 12:51am

"Welcome one and all! Spycon, the largest super spy convention in the world, is in full swing! You are here to get a precious piece of secret information, but there is a complication: everyone is wearing a costume, and you don’t know who your source is. "

Hobby World has announced a follow-up to their 2014 smash hit Spyfall. Spycon by designer Alexandr Ushan is a team vs. team social deduction game, where each team assigns one player to be a spy, who must guess a hidden Character card. A handy reference sheet lists all the possible characters, which includes famous figures such as Joan of Arc, Isaac Newton, and Cleopatra. Each team also has a Keyword card (bucket, newspaper, guitar, etc.) known to the entire team, but not to the opposing team. The spy must make vague statements to point the rest of their team towards the character card. By using the Keyword card, the spy can be more elusive and keep the competitors in the dark. Any player can guess who the hidden character is and earn the precious VP, so the spy needs to craft clues useful to their own team but confusing to others. The teams progress along a line of red carpet cards during the game, earning bonus actions. Additionally, each team has an identical deck of single use action cards to help them along the way. Spycon comes with 28 non-fiction Character cards, 28 fictional Character cards, 24 Keyword cards,

Spycon is scheduled to be released at GenCon 2020, this coming July. For more details, check out Hobby World’s website here.
