My Father's Work

Renegade Game Studios has announced a Kickstarter-exclusive game, My Father’s Work.  The game is designed by T.C. Petty III, known for such titles as Viva Java: The Dice Game and Xenon Profiteer.  The artwork for the game is provided by the team of Cold Castle Studios, Eric Hibbeler, Damien Mammoliti, and Janos Orban.  The game plays 2-4 players, ages 14 and up, in about 2 hours.

My Father’s Work is a worker placement, horror-themed narrative-driven game.  The players are mad scientists trying to perfect the work started by their respective fathers.  The base game comes with 1 scenarios, but an additional 2 have been unlocked during the campaign.  Once the players have chosen the scenario, the gameplay goes in this manner: The players gather resources, including knowledge and ingredients; players can then either perform experiments (in Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, and Occult) or choose to upgrade their inherited estate.  Mindful of the future, players must pass on their knowledge to the coming generations all the while attempting to complete their masterwork.  The player who has the most points at the end of 3 generations will win the game.

At the time of this writing, there are about 10 days remaining in the fully-funded Kickstarter campaign for My Father’s Work.  The campaign page includes links to the rulebook as well as video review.  Multiple stretch goals have already been unlocked.  If My Father’s Work sounds interesting to you, be sure and check out the Kickstarter page here.  The game is expected to deliver in February 2022.
