Gamemaster Documentary

Gamemaster is a documentary feature film which focuses on the board game industry with a spotlight on five successful game designers including Klaus Teuber (The Settlers of Catan), Matt Leacock (Pandemic), and Elan Lee (Exploding Kittens). The 96-minute film (not yet rated) is directed by Charles Mruz and produced by Jimmy Nguyen, Wally Schrass, Kristopher Wile, Jason Rose and Jennifer Tocquigny.

The film examines the booming, board game business which has seen a major resurgence because of first-time designers creating their own board games and financing them through crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, then partnering with traditional manufacturers and retail distributors for general release. Creators share their stories of how they turned their board game visions into reality and follows the board game industry from concept to shelf. There's even an interview with Tom Vasel, creator of The Dice Tower.

“Our main cast of first-time designers created games that were very personal to them, specific to who they were as people and artists. From escaping arranged marriages or surviving near-death experiences, the sheer act of making board games helped them reconcile with their world. Gamemaster isn’t just about board games, but how creation can unite and save us all.” – Director, Charles Mruz

Gamemaster is currently available for sale and rent on multiple streaming channels and Blu-Ray disc.
