Fantasy FLight announces first expansion for Journeys in Middle Earth

February 2, 2020 - 1:52am

The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth, by designers Nathan Hajek and Grace Holdinghaus, with publisher Fantasy Flight Games, hit like a storm when it was announced at GenCon 2018. Reminiscent of favorite Mansions of Madness, with its app driven, heavy theme style of adventure gaming, players were not disappointed with this cooperative epic. In Journeys, 1-5 players work together across a multi-game campaign, exploring Middle Earth, fighting the creatures of Mordor, and solving its mysteries.

For the many lovers of this game, Fantasy Flight has now announced its first expansion, Shadowed Paths, which introduces a new campaign spanning the forest of Mirkwood and the mines of Moria. Shadows will include 5 new characters to play, including Arwen, Balin, Gandalf, and more. Players now need to heed Corruption, a new type of damage that sticks with the heroes throughout the campaign, tracked by the app. New monsters abound, including giant spiders, skeletons, and even a Balrog.

Look for Shadowed Paths to arrive in stores in Quarter 2, 2020. For more information, check out the announcement from Fantasy Flight here.
