Sorry We Are French has announced a new game in the same universe as their previously published games Demeter and Ganymede, entitled Varuna. Varuna is designed by Matthieu Verdier with artwork provided by David Sitbon. The game is for 1-100 players, ages 14 and up, playable in 15-20 minutes.
Varuna is a 13-round flip-and-write game in which the players are discovering the aquatic dinosaurs on Varuna, the second moon of Demeter. During the game, the players will be upgrading their submarines, researching, and using sonar to locate the new aquatic species. There are 3 phases on a player’s turn: 1) Flip a card, 2) Choose a card, take damage, and trigger the action of the chosen card, and 3) Get the bonus of the chosen card. The player with the most Mission Points - points gathered from a variety of sources, including scientific objectives and the like - will win the game.
The web page for Varuna includes a link to the game’s rules as well as videos displaying the game play. For these and further information bits, be sure and check out the website here.
