The Dead Eye offers solo push-your-luck adventure in 3D

Pleasant Company Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Dead Eye, which is a solo game set on a distant Mad Max type world you are trying to escape. The unique art style has a comicbook aesthetic that can be augmented by the included 3D-glasses, however the art also works in 2D. The game is played by attempting runs to reach locations and dealing with encounters along the way. You choose to face or evade drawn encounters. Success or failure of encounters you face is based on whether an individualized number of the bad resource, heat, or the good resource, juice, accumulates first. You like-a the juice...juice is good. Resources are accumulated by drawing from the encounter deck, because the cards serve as one of the resources when drawn in this fashion. Successful encounters can give you helpful items to assist in future encounters. If you can successfully complete three runs to locations before your resources run out, then you escape the planet and win the game. To win, you will have to shrewdly manager the collection of resources from the encounter deck, as well as your strength and hope decks, which have variability from game to game.

The Dead Eye is designed by Simon McGregor, with art by Rob van Zyl. The Kickstarter campaign ends on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 3:59 PM EDT. There is a standard and a deluxe pledge level, both include a twelve page prelude comic.
