Continued COVID-19 Impacts to the Board Game Industry

April 10, 2020 - 3:05pm

GAMA announced yesterday that the Origins Game Fair, which was originally scheduled for June 17-21, 2020 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center has been rescheduled for October 7-11, 2020.  The decision to reschedule was not one that was taken lightly and multiple individuals were included in the discussion. Trying to keep the board gaming and Columbus communities healthy was a priority in the decision-making process.  According to GAMA director John Stacy, "The safety and well-being of the Origins community is our number one priority. Given the current health situation, we believe that it is best to move the convention to October.”  To keep abreast of the happenings regarding Origins, check out the website here.

In related news, Board Game Geek has announced that the 2020 BGG Spring convention has been cancelled.  Everyone who was registered for the 2020 BGG Spring convention have had their registrations automatically moved to the 2021 BGG Spring event, which is scheduled to take place May 28-31, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport.  Refunds are being made available to those who request them.  You can check out the official announcement on the Board Game Geek website here.
