Board&Dice brings the civilization game Dark Ages to Kickstarter
.
On Kickstarter now is Dark Ages, from Board&Dice. Dark Ages comes in two versions: Western Europe (subtitled Heritage of Charlemagne) and Central Europe (subtitled Holy Roman Empire). Each version features identical gamemplay, but the maps and historical figures are different, tied to the respective regions. Each version allows 1-4 players to use action selection to advance their civilization. Both versions can be combined for an epic 5-8 player game.
There are five possible actions in the game. On each player's turn they will take an action disc and place it on one of the action spaces. Once an action space has three discs, the bottom disc slides out onto one of two overlapping reaction spaces for each action (six total reaction spaces). That mechanism keeps each player potentially involved on every turn.
Dark Ages is designed by Adam Kwapiński and Andrei Novac, with art by Joel Holtzman. The solo mode is designed by Dávid Turczi, and utilizes an automa bot to compete against. The game includes sculped minis for military units and buildings. The Kickstarter campaign has funded and runs through 6:59 PM EDT on March 21, 2020. The game is projected to deliver in March 2021.
