April 29, 2020 - 6:41pm

Usaopoly (The Op) has announced the next game in the Rising series. It will feature the evil hybrid of Batman and the Joker from the Dark Nights: Metal comic series. The previous games in the Rising series are Thanos Rising: Avengers Infinity War, Harry Potter: Death Eaters RisingStar Wars: Dark Side Rising, and SpongeBob: Plankton Rising. Each entry in the series is a dice rolling, card drafting cooperative game. Players are arrayed in a circle around the titular villain, represented by a large, pre-painted figurine. The Batman Who Laughs Rising is the second game in the series, along with SpongeBob: Plankton Rising, to include a solo mode.

The Batman Who Laughs Rising is designed by Patrick Marino and Andrew Wolf. They were also the designers for the Harry Potter and Star Wars entries in the series. Thanos Rising was a solo design by Andrew Wolf. The Batman Who Laughs is determined to unleash the Dark Knights and Barbatos on Prime. One to four players must work together and roll dice to recruit key heroes and allies to fight back against a host of villains, concluding with a showdown against the Batman Who Laughs. Players start with Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, or Batman, each with their own teams and special abilities.

In the Dark Nights: Metal comic series, the Batman Who Laughs originates from the alternate universe of Earth -22, like if one of the Spider-Verse Peter Parker's became evil. Learn more about Earth -22 lore here. The Batman Who Laughs Rising is scheduled to release this fall.
