Announcing the cohosted Dice Tower and BGG convention - Virtual Gaming Con

May 20, 2020 - 3:16am

Announced Monday, May 18th on Youtube, there will be a new online convention hosted by cooperation between The Dice Tower and Board Game Geek. Virtual Gaming Con will take place from June 24th to June 28th and will allow anyone to create virtual rooms to play games or host panels and welcome other congoers to play or attend. Tickets to the event are free if you already had a badge to Dice Tower East 2020 or BGG Spring 2020, with more able to be purchased as information becomes available. These 5 days of online gaming do not replace those conventions, but instead is intended as an added bonus to fill the gap left by the ever-emptying convention schedule of 2020.

"One thing we have both been really proud about our conventions is the fact that, yes, there's other things going on. But at the end of the day it's about getting together playing games. And I know for a lot of people that's one of the main things you miss. You have friends that you want to play with, there are people that you meet once a year to play games with. I'm the same way."

This new convention is purposefully planned between BGG Conline (taking place May 20th), and Dice Tower Online (June 30th through July 4th). Being an internet-based convention, this will be welcome to fans the world over and events will be opening at all hours of the day so there will always be games to join no matter your schedule. This is an excellent time to play games online and take back some of the much missed gaming time for this year, and it's easy to join via Zoom, Discord, Skype, Tabletopia, and Tabletop Simulator. More details will be released as they are ironed out, so please keep on eye on the BGG and Dice Tower youtube channels for more information!
