America's Favorite Dysfunctional Family is Coming Soon to a Card Game Near You
Fans of The Umbrella Academy comic series, written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Ba, must be rejoicing right now. Netflix began broadcasting season 2 of The Umbrella Academy series on July 31st. Dark Horse Comics and Studio71 have launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Umbrella Academy Card Game. The game, which has already funded, plays 1-6 players ages 12 and up, in about 20 minutes.
In The Umbrella Academy Card Game, the players are working cooperatively - a seemingly impossible task in this dysfunctional family - to vanquish the villains before they destroy the world. Each of the characters in the game has its own special ability to help. Every round a new villain is introduced as well as a dysfunctional family card, so not only do the players have to defeat the villains, they must overcome their dysfunctional family to boot.
The Kickstarter page for the game features the rule books for the Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's edition of the game as well as videos and explanations of the game play. Several stretch goals have been unlocked, but there are still more to go. If you are interested, the Kickstarter page can be found here. The game is expected to deliver in December 2020.
