Alien Petshop on Kickstarter

July 6, 2021 - 9:27pm

Alien Petshop has players run their own cosmic pet shop filled with cute and marginally dangerous pets who come from different parts of the galaxy. Gregory Grimsby is the designer, artist, and publisher of this engine-building game for 2-4 players, aged 11+, which plays in roughly 30 to 60 minutes.

In Alien Petshop workers have to care for the pets. Players roll and assign workers to help pets spawn offspring to sell and can also engineer new traits for them. Some workers can be careless and trigger a pet’s hazardous effects which, if unmitigated, can slime the shop, start fires, or even eat the worker. Collecting sets of traits earn award cards which are worth victory points. Some pets synergize better with a shop’s unique power. Pets spawn offspring which are sold for profits and workers can sell goods for extra money. At the end of 5 rounds the petshop with the most Space Credits and Victory Points is the winner.

The Alien Petshop Kickstarter campaign has already met its funding goal with over 270 backers and the campaign is set to end on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021.  Alien Petshop is expected to deliver in February of 2022.
