The Origins Awards have been given since 1975 by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design to recognize excellence in game design, and last week nominations for these awards were announced at the GAMA Expo in Reno, NV. To be eligible for the 2020 awards, games must have been released to the public between November 15, 2018 and November 14, 2019. These nominees were selected by a jury of 40 hobby game industry professionals and are considered the most deserving games in their respective categories. Games were nominated in the following ten categories: Board Game, Card Game, Collectible Game, Digital Adaptation, Family Games, Game Accessory, Historical Game, Historical Minis, Miniatures Game, and Role-Playing Game. The nominees will be on display and available for demo play during the Origins Game Fair, from June 17-21 in Columbus, Ohio. The public will be able to vote on the fan favorite during the fair using the Origins mobile app, and the award winners will be announced on June 20, 2020 for Fan Favorite, Category Winners, and Game of the Year.

The list of games in each category is available to view at the Origins Game Fair website here.
