Days of Wonder
will be releasing the Through the Jungle and Desert
expansion for Memoir ’44
in April of 2018. This will be the second installment of Memoir ’44’s new Battle Map series following the 2018 release of The Battles of Khalkhin-Gol
. The jungle and desert expansion will include two new decks of combat cards, six pre-printed standard scenarios, punch-board tokens, and two pre-printed Overlord scenarios.
Lead your men through the merciless jungles of Burma, trying to escape the Japanese grasp or rush to Rangoon before the British forces evacuate the city on the jungle scenario. Then, change the terrain and fight the very first tank battle between US and German forces in the sands of North Africa, where Stuart and Panzer clash in the middle of the desert.
Jungle scenarios can be played separately, or can be played as a campaign with each scenarios results impacting the scenario that follows.
In addition to the Burma, Rangoon, and North Africa locations, Overlord scenarios will have teams fighting at Henderson Field in Guadalcanal or conduct a desert battle marking the beginning of the second battle of El Alamein.
Through Jungle and Desert has been designed for 2 to 8 players. Two players will take on the six standard scenarios, and up to 8 players can take on the two Overlord scenarios. To play at least one copy of the base Memoir 44 game is required as well as the Pacific Theater and Mediterranean Theater expansions. To enjoy the full experience Days of Wonder are also recommending using the Terrain Pack and Equipment Pack expansions.
While players will need to wait until April to pick up a copy, Days of Wonder have already made the rules available on their website here.

On May 8, 1945, after 6 years of war, the German Wehrmacht surrendered to the Allies in Berlin. War in Europe was finally over. 1945, however, saw the final throes of a powerful military; as the American and British forces pushed forward on the western front, Soviet forces advanced tirelessly from the east, closing in on Berlin. Struggling to defend their homeland, German soldiers proved to be fierce warriors, even when outnumbered or encircled. The war would not end as easily as expected.
Now, 70 years after the end of the war in Europe, Richard Borg & the Days of Wonder Team are happy to offer you four new scenarios to commemorate the last battles of 1945. Relieve the men of the 79th US Infantry trapped in the two encircled towns of Hatten & Rittershof; take command of the 44th British Brigade and its flamethrower tanks during Operation Veritable; cross the Rhine with the men of the “All American” 82nd Airborne; or gather your friends to assault – or defend – the infamous Seelow Heights, last line of defense before Berlin, in a massive Overlord battle.
Robert Burke in collaboration with Grey Fox Games has launched Operation F.A.U.S.T. on Kickstarter. This is a great little social bluffing game. They previewed this game at GenCon this summer and I was fortunate enough to be able to play it. This is kind of like Coup except with fine art. Definitely a lot of fun.
In this Game you are trying to recover art before the Nazi’s can get to it. From practical experience I can say that the ability to bluff is helpful in this game but the ability is not an utter necessity. You gain a lot from solid decisions and can win solely based on being a good kind hearted person. It just might be a bit more difficult.
I would strongly encourage you to head over to Kickstarter to check out the campaign here.
