After the success of the legendary decks last year, Konami Digital is looking to make lightning strike twice with the upcoming release of Legendary Decks II for the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game.  This will be a box set that will contain three decks based off of the characters Joey, Yugi, and Kaiba in the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs of the anime.  They will have iconic cards in each deck like the Exodia cards from Yugi’s deck, the Red Eyes Black Dragon for Joey’s, and of course the Blue Eyes White Dragon for Kaiba’s.  There will also be other super rare cards and even Egyptian God cards included in the set.  You can read about the release on the YGOrganization site and look forward to it’s release in October of 2016.

Hot on the heels of The Spoils winning the fan favorite award for trading card game at Origins 2015, Arcane Tinmen has announced the next expansion for the card game, Seed Saga, the Descent of Gideon.  The Spoils is a trading card game incorporating elements of Magic and Magi-nation while still adding it own ideas like faction specific abilities and actions, making it an award winning stand out from the typical TCG fare.  The object of the game is to take your opponent down to 0 influence through clever card play and strategy.  Cards come in the form of Characters that can be used to attack the opponent, Locations and Items that bring continuous advantages to the table, or Tactics that are one-time use cards with powerful effects.

Seed Saga is a 350 card set that continues to expand the universe with 50 brand new cards as well as alternate art cards for fan favorite from previous sets.  You will be able to purchase 14 card booster packs of the new set when it releases on August 22nd or you can pre-order packs from retailers that carry The Spoils TCG.  Head on over the The Spoils site to find a retailer near you.

As of this month (May) Cryptozoic is opting to stop sales of their trading cards and binders in their online store.  In a press release on May 4th they announced this change as a shift to drive more business to the retailers and distributors.  So while you won’t be able to buy directly from Cryptozoic anymore, you will be able to buy it from retailers, and since they no longer have to hold stock back for their own store, there will be more available to the retailers.  In short, you can only get Cryptozoic TCG products from retailers, and supporting retailers is always a good thing.

Read the full notice HERE, they have also included a link to help find retailers near you that carry Cryptozoic products.

Last year Wizards of the Coast announced major changes to their distribution model for Magic: The Gathering. Now players of the mega-popular collectible card game finally have the title and some details regarding the first release in this new two block set format.

Battle for Zendikar will be packaged in Booster Packs, Intro Packs, Fat Packs, and Event Decks. Conspicuous by its absence is a Core Set which will no longer exist in the new distribution model.

Long time M:TG veteran and Making Magic columnist Mark Rosewater headed the initial concept and design team for the upcoming release. The project was then taken over by another well known M:TG veteran Eric Lauer who lead the final game design and development team. With these two minds molding Battle for Zendikar, along with multiple other talented individuals following their lead, there is no reason to believe this new era in M:TG distribution will do anything other than continue the success of the franchise.

Fans can first expect to see Modern Masters in stores May, 2015 before Battle for Zendikar arrives on October 2, 2015. Pre release events will be held September 26-27 and the official Game Day for the release is October 24-25.
