Story-Driven Games

Code 3, by Black Key Games and designed by Brandon Byler and Matt Ruggiero, is a cooperative, sandbox-style game for 2-4 players!

Each player will choose two police officers to be Beat Partners and combine them to make their own unique deck. In this story-driven game, players will choose a scenario and set up a modular board of city tiles an then it’s time to kick down some doors! Players will need to complete goals to unveil the next part of the story, but if too many 911 calls aren’t answered, the game is lost. The way these scenarios are up to the players! They can either play by the books or bend the rules.

Black Key Games is also hosting a Cyber Cop Challenge in which every copy of the game comes with a scenario checklist. If you beat them all, you will be mailed a reward of The Cyber Cop and his unique deck of officer cards!

The Isofarian Guard by Sky Kingdom Games, designed by Eric Bittermann, Sean Craten, and David Yanchick, is a solo and cooperative story-driven game for 1-2 players.

This game comes with 4 unique campaigns as players customize their own characters, travel across the country of Isofar in the land of Telios, and craft equipment as they explore this open-world, voice-narrated story! The Isofarian Guard utilizes bag building and card/tableau building mechanics to explore, enter combat and go questing, and encounter events along their journey. The game offers 30+hours of play as well as the ability to replay the campaigns due to the branching paths within the story.

Etherfields is a new miniatures board game designed by MichaƂ Oracz and published by Awaken Realms. This is a 1-4 player cooperative/solo campaign driven game that produce an experience the publisher calls a Dream Crawler.

This games seems to play on your intuition, deduction skills, and emotional intelligence as players develop their characters through a story-driven campaign using deck-building mechanics and exploration. From the same designer as This War of Mine: TGB, you can bet this game will go deeper than just playing a board game, but provide an emotional experience in this living, breathing world. Players interactions and choices will leave lasting marks and lead to a variety of consequences as they progress throughout the campaign.

Everything Epic Games is returning to Kickstarter to bring you the 2nd printing of their recently released thematic cooperative game Secrets of the Lost Tomb, as well as Fate’s Fortune, the newest expansion for the game.

Secrets of the Lost Tomb is a Cooperative, story-driven tile placement game, that plays in about 60 minutes, for 1-6 adventurers who have embarked upon a perilous expedition to uncover the ancient secrets of the Tomb. Each game is built around a different scenario with its own unique boss monster, such as the Pharaoh with the Blue Eyes, the Immortal Rhaz Azul or the Elder Forces of Hera’Thulhu. Over the course of the game, you and your fellow expedition members will explore ancient sites around the world, from the crypts of the Mayans to the ruins of Greece and the beautiful temples of the Orient; fight monstrous beasts; gather powerful relics and above all prepare yourselves to ward off the inevitable awakening of the Primordial Evil.

The Fate’s Fortune expansion introduces the eponymous Fate cards which will send each character on their own secret quest that will allow them to level up during the game (and will also unleash new furies from within the tomb). Using these secret Fate cards, players can also now choose to include the possibility of a Traitor in the game, rather than playing purely cooperatively. The expansion will also add new characters, new scenarios and new monsters to this already jam-packed game.
