Stone Blade Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing a digital version of their hit deck building game Shards of Infinity in collaboration with Temple Gates Games, makers of the digital versions of Race for the Galaxy Shards of Infinity designed by Gary Arant and Justin Gary was Stone Blade’s followup to their immensely popular card game Ascension (2010), and hit the blooming deck-building market by storm. Shards has been positively regarded as an improvement on the standard head to head deck building game. In Shards, players fight head to head, trying to deplete their opponents health while improving their own Mastery. Mastery makes a players’ cards more powerful, and at 30 Mastery a player can employ their Infinity Shard, immediately defeating their opponent. The digital adaptation is expected in Spring 2019, on Android, iOS and Steam. For more details, you can read the press release from Stone Blade Entertainment here.
Ultra Pro and Stone Blade Entertainment have announced the upcoming Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future expansion to the recently released Shards of Infinity deck-building game.
Original designers Gary Arant and Justin Gary, along with artist Aaron Nakara are returning the Shards of Infinity world and this time they brought powerful shards of the Infinity Engine with them.
When the Infinity Engine was destroyed, reality warping shards rained down from the sky, wiping out civilization and forever altering the world. From the ashes, rose the descendants of mankind. You are a leader among these peoples, a mighty warrior, forever bound to a powerful shard.
It’s time to make a choice: Is it your fate to lead your people to victory or will you become the relic of some forgotten future? Choose wisely.
Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future is the first expansion to the 2018 deck-building game Shards of Infinity. This first expansion introduces relic cards into the game. Once a player reaches 10 Mastery points they can select one of their two relics, with the other being lost in time.
The expansion will also introduce a new set of cards that are playable by any character, but that can be matched with a particular faction leader for additional effects.
The expansion will also include rules for three new game variants.
- In the three player game “Bloodbath,” any damage is dealt to both opponents instead of just one.
- In 2 versus 2 Team Attack players will join forces to take on their opponents.
- The “Nemesis” solo version of the game will pit individual players against the game.
Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future will have 2-4 players deckbuilding for ~30 minutes.
What’s in the box:
• 128 Cards
• 4 Deluxe Character Dials
Shards of Infinity
The original Shards of Infinity game was released earlier in 2018.
One-hundred years ago, The Infinity Engine was shattered and its reality-bending shards have destroyed most of the world. Now, it falls upon you to gather your forces, defeat your adversaries, and rebuild the Infinity Engine! Will you survive?
Players attempt to reduce their opponents health to zero while at the same time rebuilding the Infinity Engine.
Players start the game with fifty health and zero mastery points. Players can spend one gem each turn to gain a mastery point, which will increase the power of card abilities and eventually (with 30 mastery points) activate the Infinity Shard, which instantly defeats your opponent.
Following traditional deck-building mechanics, each player starts the game with a basic deck of cards. Players can acquire new cards from the center display of six cards, adding these new cards to their deck for future use or occasionally to their hands for immediate use.
Designed bu Gary Arant and Justin Gary, with artist Aaron Nakara Shards of Infinity was released in April 2018 by Ultra Pro and Stone Blade Entertainment.
Gamewright are at the New York Toy Fair and have revealed Forbidden Sky: Height of Danger by Matt Leacock. The reveal was done on their Facebook and Instagram accounts as well. Unfortunately, the game’s box cover is all that’s been revealed but we do at least know the game will be for 2-5 players, aged 10+.

The latest expansion to the Ascension universe by Ultra Pro and Stone Blade Entertainment was announced here. Below is a recent press release that provides more details on the upcoming release:
Ultra Pro and Stone Blade Entertainment are proud to announce their upcoming expansion to the Ascension universe, Gift of the Elements!
Gift of the Elements is our eleventh Ascension set and we’re excited to bring back two popular game mechanics: Events and Transform. Much like in our previous releases, Storm of Souls and Immortal Heroes, Events enter the game via the center deck and create an immediate impact for all players. However, unlike previous sets, Events can now be acquired and transformed into powerful Hero cards.
In addition to these fan favorites, we’re also introducing two new mechanics to Ascension: Infest and Empower.
For the first time in a full Ascension release, you can “infest” your opponent’s’ deck, forcing them to draw useless cards. This gameplay feature can slow down a player that jumps out early and introduces a strategic element not seen in previous sets.
But fear not! We’ve given players tools to deal with these cards in the form of Empower cards. When the player acquires an Empower card, he may banish a card played that turn. In other words, you can gain the effect of a card and then banish it. This added flexibility creates a lasting impact in each game and we’re excited for everyone to experience it.
Gift of the Elements will be released on Monday, March 20, 2017. And, if you preorder on AscensionGame.com, you’ll receive an exclusive preorder promo!
Ascension VR is also available now with the War of Shadows expansion (coming soon to iOS and Android)
Stone Blade Entertainment, and now Ultra Pro, continues the Ascension Collector’s Edition line with the Year 3 box. This set contains all the expansions and promos released for the game in it’s third year including Ascension: Rise of Vigil and Ascension: Darkness Unleashed. Everything you need to play the game with up to 6 players is in the box, plus it all has a nice foil sheen to it, including the board. So if you are looking to expand your collection or just want everything nice and shiny, look for it on your local game store’s shelves in the coming weeks.
Essen continues to inch ever closer and the new games keep on coming, here are four games you can look for in the coming months. First, from Stone Blade Entertainment is a quick little bluffing game filled with adorable animals called You Gotta be Kitten Me! In the game you are essentially playing Liar’s Dice with cards where the first player makes a bid of objects or colors, and you either challenge or raise that bid. If you challenge the previous bidder has to reveal their cards, if they were bluffing they lose a card, lose all your cards and you are out. Look for this utterly adorable card game this month at your local retailer.
Next comes the game you will only find at your local Walgreens, and that’s Munchkin Grimm Tidings. This new Munchkin plays off all the fairy tales that were authored by the Brothers Grimm, so expect unicorns, evil stepmothers, and wolves. This will be a full standalone game of 114 cards with illustrations done by the talented John Kovalic, so look for it on store shelves this fall.
Last are two reprints of games for younger kids from Pegasus Spiele called Save the Treasure of the Fairy Tales and Wizardry to the power of Three. Save the Treasure is a typical memory match game, but instead of flipping tiles, you are revealing them through a slide puzzle type mechanic. Match two images that create a full page of the fairy tale and you get that page, try to collect them all before the King returns and finds out you lost the fairy tale pages.
Wizardry to the power of Three is a cooperative dice game for kids where they are trying to get back to the wizard school before the principal notices. The problem is that the way back is through a dark forest, so they have to work together to navigate the forest and get back in time. Both of these kids games will be available come Essen, and as an added bonus, Pegasus Spiele will be donating copies of these games to local day care centers and kindergartens.
Ultra PRO, widely known for its collectible and tabletop accessories manufacturing, has entered into an agreement to publish, market and promote Stone Blade Entertainment’s roster of games. This partnership allows Stone Blade to utilize Ultra PRO’s market presence to reach a wider audience, while freeing up resources to focus on the design of new games.
Stone Blade Entertainment is most well-known for the Ascension: Deckbuilding Game series, which, along with other games such as Bad Beets, will be bolstered by Ultra PRO’s distribution channels and marketing efforts. Ultra PRO’s new Entertainment Division is excited to have access to this growing index of games.
The first Stone Blade game to have the Ultra Pro treatment will be released in Sept 2016. You Gotta Be Kitten Me! Is a Liars-Dice style bluffing game featuring cards with cats, dogs, and the adorable accessories they wear.
