The new Epic Card Game content is: (1) Duels – a two player starter set for Epic Card Game, designed for new players, (2) Jungle – a two player box set that can be played on its own or combined with any other Epic set, and (3) The Lost Tribe – a set of four fifteen card packs, combine any two to create a ready-to-play deck. All of the new content features the same design duo (Robert Dougherty, Darwin Kastle) and artist duo (Kaile Dutton, Vito Gesualdi) as the base game. The campaign also provides access to all previous Epic Card Game content: cards, playmats, sleeves, and promos.
For the other White Wizard games, this campaign has add-ons to acquire:
Realms is arguably the golden child of the 2 player head-to-head deck-builder
world. Ever since the game’s debut from White Wizard Games in 2013, people
have been extolling the virtues of this classic “buy cards”, “play cards”, “damage
opponent” card game. Designers Robert
Dougherty and Darwin Kastle created
an elegant, competitive deck builder which still has a solid following to this
day, and has inspired numerous expansions, such as Colony
and the latest, Frontiers.
The digital version of Star Realms has likewise gained traction, and this latest expansion has just been added to the popular app. Frontiers adds 45 new ships and bases to the game, as well as 2 new campaign chapters with 12 new missions. Frontiers is available now on all platforms; for more information on this popular add-on, check out the game page here.
White Wizard Games have announced Star Realms Arena, an in-app digital tournament feature which was released today for the Star Realms digital app. The United Heroes expansion will also be part of the update and adds a new campaign chapter. United Heroes includes 8 new heroes which are more powerful than those in the Crisis set.
“From its beginning in 2014, the StarRealms app has been a favorite for board gamers. It was recently selected as an Editor’s Choice Pick on Android, has been featured by Apple, has won the Best Mobile BGG Golden Geek Award, and was voted as the #1 “Top 10 Apps to Own for Board Gamers” in a 2018 BGG Community Survey.”
Key features of Star Realms Arena:
Free weekly entry in an arena tournament where the format changes every week
Weekly formats to win prizes, including digital foil cards
Ability to play with Star Realms expansions without having to purchase those expansions
Race to the Stars to get the Brain World avatar by being the first 100 players to reach 100 Trophy Stars
EPIC is a two to four player card game by White Wizard games, makers of Star and Hero Realms, where you duke it out as gods to see who is the greatest. This game brings back the play and feel of trading card style games that have been around for years, but without the costly need of buying randomly packaged booster packs. EPIC comes ready to go out of the box, and only adds cards in an LCG style where each pack has the same cards as every other pack of the same name. Previous packs have added new characters you can play as called Tyrants, or just added new cards to the game in Uprising. Well now they are adding new characters to play as in the form of a Pantheon. The first of the two packs features Furios, Father Nature and Maligus, the Dark One, each coming with 12 cards and 3 token cards in the pack so you can play as either deity. Furios is revered by all in the forest, except for Maligus that is, and he seeks to overthrow Furios. But when Furios summons you to his defense, you obey.
It’s coming to the end of the year, and what does that mean, lots of people putting out their Top X for 2017 lists. The Dice Tower does this themselves as they have already released their Top 10 Games of 2017 and Top 10 Pop Culture of 2017 on Youtube. But not to be left out, Popular Mechanics has now released their list for the Top 50 Games of 2017. What is interesting about their list is that they are a lot of great games on here from across the spectrum, from party games, to micro games, to heavy strategy games, and even Kickstarter games. Although like any list, some maybe are not as great but get by on notoriety, but strangely also some games not from 2017 make the list. Some of those games on the list include Star Realms, Quantum, and Codenames, which are great games, but odd choices for being included on a 2017 list. Either way, check out their list to see the top 50 “new” board games for this year of 2017.
White Wizard Games has been busy lately and have announced upcoming releases as well as the launch of their latest Kickstarter. The first of those announcements is that they have updated their App implementation of the Star Realms game. Lots of updates have been made to the aesthetics of the game to make it look and sound better, plus some balancing updates to keep the game moving forward. Also with this update comes the availability of the Colony Wars expansion to be purchase for $4.99 in the app. With that purchase you will gain access to 46 additional cards for use in the game as well as the new mechanics associated with them. You can read more about the updates on the Star Realms website.
Next they announced the launching of Alpha Access to their latest game app, Epic Card Game Digital. Like the Star Realms app, this will bring the Epic Card Game into the digital realm allowing for online play, solo play, and hopefully online multiplayer. You will have to buy your way in if you want alpha access, else you will just have to wait for it’s release like everyone else.
Also announced was the next expansion for the Epic Card Game, simply called Epic Pantheon. This expansion will be six different packs of 15 cards each, similar to the Uprising packs and will contain “12 game cards, 2 deity cards (demigod, god or elder god), and 1 double-sided token“. Expect to see these packs available later this year in time for the holidays.
Last, but certainly not least, is the launch of the Kickstarter for the next Star Realms set, Star Realms Frontiers. Like the set before this is a new stand alone game that can be combined with the other games, but they are bringing in an aspect of Hero Realms that many people enjoyed. That aspect is asymmetric starting decks in the form of Command Decks. Each of these command decks will contain a commander with a starting authority and hand size in addition to a unique starting deck with 2 gambit cards. This means that players will now have differing hand sizes, authority, and abilities right from the start, giving fresh variety to the game. Also available in the Kickstarter are two new expansion packs, Stellar Allies and Lost Fleet, as well as access to all of the year 2 promo cards and additional cards as stretch goals. So if you like Star Realms and want to jump in, or expand your collection even more, head to the Kickstarter page today.

White Wizard Games have made two announcements, the first being the launching of the Kickstarter campaign for their next deckbuilding game, Hero Realms, and a new expansion in production for Star Realms called Star Realms United. Hero Realms is a new fantasy themed implementation of the Star Realms game and so with the base box you can play the same style of game everyone has come to love in a fantasy setting. But the differences start to show up in the expansions as you can buy expansions that give you starting decks for different fantasy classes like cleric, ranger, rogue, warrior, and so on. There are also expansion packs for typically evil characters as well like the Lich and the Dragon, but the game really comes into it’s own with the campaign expansion. With the campaign expansion now it is a fully cooperative game where you are fighting against the forces of evil and gaining experience points, then with these experience points you can upgrade your character and get better gear making it a campaign style deckbuilding game. All said and done you can get everything including the first year’s worth of promos at the $72 pledge, but there are other levels to get just the base game or certain expansions, head on over to the Kickstarter page to pledge today.
Next is the Star Realms United expansion, this expansion adds more cards to the game but brings something new, hybrid factions. Now you can have cards like the Blob Bot which have both the Blob and Machine Cult faction symbols and ally abilities, thus allowing for more synergy between factions in your deck. This expansion is currently in production and will be out later this year!
