Pathfinder Adventure Card Game

DriveThruCards has been offering print-on-demand services for small cards games for many years now, allowing gamers and designers to create and sell their creations.  They have negotiated partnerships with several game companies to allow for custom cards to be created for games like Pathfinder ACG, Boss Monster, and Phase.  Now, through a partnership with Stone Blade Entertainment and Ultra Pro, Ascension is being added to that list.  So you are able to go to DriveThruCards’ site and browse cards created by others, and even create your own with their online tool, and get them all printed.  You can find out more in the full press release below, then head on over to

Stone Blade Entertainment and Ultra PRO are proud to announce that fans of “Ascension: A Deckbuilding Game” are now able to create their own personalized cards! Through a partnership with DriveThruCards, gamers can create Hero, Construct, and Monster cards and include effects that generate Runes, Power, Honor, Energy, and Insight!
If you’d like to surprise your friends on your next game night, sneak in one of your personalized cards and wait for everyone’s reaction. If you want to create a card that only you can acquire, go for it! The possibilities are truly endless.
Each card costs $0.50 with a minimum order of 10 cards. Gamers can start creating their cards today at the following URL:

Mistfall was a successful Kickstarter last year which aimed to bring an RPG adventure into a card game, much how Paizo brought the Pathfinder RPG into a card game.  In Mistfall you pick a hero, who comes with starting equipment and skills, and then take him on a quest of your choosing, battling monsters, upgrading your gear, and leveling up as you go along.

Mistfall: Heart of the Mists aims to essentially give you a base set again, but with all completely new heroes, monsters, quests, and gear, allowing you to either start with this set or mix it with your base set for nearly double the amount of variety.  The expansion will be Kickstarted like the base but no solid date has been given, however, they say soon so keep an eye out for the announcement.  You can read about the expansion and look at some of the new art and components on the NSKN site.

With the release of the latest adventure path set for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Wrath of the Righteous, some changes have come to the game and organized play.  The Pathfinder ACG is a cooperative card game that distills down the tabletop RPG into a card game that doesn’t need a DM, freeing up that player to adventure with everyone else.  In Wrath of the Righteous you are going off and fighting the minions of demon lord Deskari on your way to fighting him and becoming mythic heroes.  The major difference aside from story for this set from the rest is the introduction of the d20 into the dice pool.  Once you have determined which type of mythic hero you will become you will gain access to mythic charges which allow you to roll the d20 instead of your normal dice, thus introducing the possibility for edge of your seat victories and epic failures.  Add in new characters to try from the perplexing summoner to new hybrid classes like the bloodrager and you have a whole different experience waiting for you.

On the organized play front, along with the season of the righteous adventures they have introduced a guide to the organized play which provides information on how to run or play in an organized play setting.  The guide also details the new tier system for the characters which prevent characters from playing scenarios that are too low or too high for them as well as how they can get deck upgrades.  The tier system simplifies the upgrading of the character and also adds in a new dice bump mechanic which allows you to change the result of a check up or down by 1, but be careful, these dice bumps are one time use and while several can be used at once, you will only ever get 6 of them since you acquire 1 per completed adventure.  And lastly they include some pre-generated deck lists to get you started and information on how to include the promo cards from the miniature packs into your class deck.

Overall I am very excited for this new set and look forward to having new adventures with both the regular game and the organized play and rolling that big d20.

The first set includes six miniatures (with the same amount of cards for PACG) and is available now. Sets #2 and #3 of the Iconic Heroes series are due in April 2015.

Speaking of Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Paizo announced the third core set at GAMA. This set is titled Wrath of the Righteous and will include:
