Back in the hay day of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, Total Recall earned itself a place as a classic among sci-fi movies, to the point where it still gets referenced in movies to today. So naturally a board game about the movie would be a good way to tap into nostalgia and bring new people into the hobby. Enter Overworld Games and their next board game, Total Recall: The Official Board Game. The original movie was all about the mutant rebels rising up against the tyrannical Federal Colonies, and so what better genre of game to make it into than social deduction. The game has everyone entering a Rekall dream where you are armed with a gun and a mission, kill the leader of the opposing faction. The game will play similar to Good Cop, Bad Cop, but with the added ability of people being able to become Rekall scientists. When you become a Rekall scientist you now have the ability to manipulate the dreams and change the game, even to the point where you can win by yourself. The Kickstarter for the game will launch in August of this year with a retail release in 2018. Also of note for the Kickstarter is that a NSFW (not safe for work) version will be available for pledging, most likely paying homage to the violence and gore in the source movie. You can read the press release below for more information.
Total Recall Announced by Overworld Games
PASADENA, California, June 28, 2017 – Overworld Games announced they will be publishing Total Recall: The Official Tabletop Game, based on the futuristic 1990 Studiocanal film where Rekall scientists promise Doug Quaid a “dream of a lifetime,” which for him, turns out to be a battle over Mars between the tyrannical Federal Colonies and a mutant Rebel uprising.
In the tabletop game, you begin in a Rekall dream armed with a gun, where you are secretly on the Federal Colony or Rebel team. Your objective is to find and eliminate the opposing leader (Kuato or Cohaagen) and you’ll need the help of other players on your team to secure your victory. You can even exit the dream and become a Rekall scientist where you’ll manipulates the dream from the outside to take the win for yourself.
The game uses the engine of the smash hit game, Good Cop Bad Cop®, but adds tons of changes to the mechanics and components to fit the Total Recall universe. “Fans of the movie will truly feel like they are in the middle of a Rekall dream,” says Overworld Games President Brian Henk.
The game will launch on Kickstarter in August 2017 offering a fancy Deluxe version and a “Not Safe for Work pack” while the Standard version will be available in stores in 2018. More info is available on totalrecallgame.com.

As we make our way into Spring, taxes done, new fiscal year underway – must be time to invest some money! Or, as I like to call it, BUY GAMES!
First up from Overwold Games, we have Barker’s Row.
Following on from their last Kickstarter success ‘Leaders of Euphoria’, Overworld Games takes us into a twisted carnival setting with Barker’s Row. Featuring stunning visuals and 3D components, which lift the game up, you play the part of a carnival barker filling their grandstands, but as you get more successful, each attraction will be more demanding than the last – giving the other barkers a chance to catch up.
Barker’s Row is available now on Kickstarter.
We also have Rayguns and Rocketships from IDW Games. Set during the golden age of science fiction, during inspiration from classics such as Flash Gordon, this beautiful looking game is a miniatures board game for 2-4 players, this is also available now on Kickstarter.
Oh, and did I mention this is design by renowned video game designer and author Scott Rogers (God of War, Pac-Man World, the Maximo series, Drawn to Life, and Darksiders)!
It’s shaping up to be another good year to invest in Games!
Overworld Games (publishers of Good Cop Bad Cop) has teamed up with Stonemaier Games (publishers of Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia) to bring to you a new strategic deduction game. Leaders of Euphoria is based off Good Cop Bad Cop’s gameplay, but has been refined and improved on. Players will join the game on one of two different teams, competing to erase the opposing faction’s leader. Taking turns, players can slowly reveal other player’s alignments or hinder/assist other players with artifacts from the Old World. One of the major difference of this game compared to Good Cop Bad Cop is the removal of player elimination. If a player is erased, rather than being removed from the game, they switch to a third faction and can then still attempt to win the game by finishing off either faction leaders.
As of today, the project will be up for another 23 days and is almost halfway to it’s funding goal of $20,000. The game can be pledged for $20 for the standard edition. There is also a deluxe edition ($29),which includes oversize ray guns for you to point at each other and large reversible player mats. Check it out on Kickstarter now!
Exposed is a quirky 2-6 player light party game designed by Brian Henk and Clayton Skancke and published by Overworld Games. In this social deduction game, players take on different roles and compete to win the game by exposing all other thieves or by being the first to steal 7 other wallets. From the creators of the widely popular Good Cop Bad Cop, Exposed promises not to steal the fun from your game night!
Explosed is set to be released in September 2016.
Overworld Games (Good Cop Bad Cop, New Salem, and Booze Barons) would like to proudly announce their sixth Kickstarter campaign for their new title, Exposed. In this game, “players are hiding in plain sight and mastering the art of pickpocketry to try to steal the most wallets from guests at a party. Just like in Good Cop Bad Cop, you don’t have to lie in this one, but you can if that’s your style. Each move you make gives away information about your secret identity so you’ll need to steal wallets with stealth and cunning to avoid getting exposed by other players!”
This Kickstarter campaign has worldwide free shipping, promo cards that will be exclusive to backers for a limited time, and a money back guarantee. Another interesting aspect of the campaign is that one of the stretch goals allows backers to earn more promo cards by taking pictures of crazy things related to the campaign.
Exposed will be released at GenCon 2016 along with the Undercover expansion to Good Cop Bad Cop. For more information on this project, visit its Kickstarter page.
With the success of Euphoria on Kickstarter, Overworld Games is aiming to expand on the universe with a new game Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor. This game is set in the Euphoria universe but at the beginning of the timeline, when everyone is choosing who their new leader will be. The game is designed by Brian Henk and Clayton Skancke and it will play like Good Cop, Bad Cop, a popular social deduction game from the duo released last year, and so will be a much lighter and quicker game compared to it’s euro style brother. More information can be found on the Prefundia page and you can sign up to receive an email when the official campaign launches on Kickstarter this summer. You can read the full press release from Overworld Games below.
Overworld Games Announces Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 15, 2016) – At the GAMA Trade Show, Overworld Games announces a Q4 2016 title they will be publishing called Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor, a social deduction game for 4-8 players in the style of Good Cop Bad Cop and set in the Euphoria universe.
The immensely successful euro-style worker placement game Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia was published in 2013 by Stonemaier Games with the help of almost 5000 backers on Kickstarter. Euphoria is known for its tongue-in-cheek humor about a dystopian culture in the future where a higher class competes for control over markets and valuable minerals while a lower class toils away in the mines. Good Cop Bad Cop is an award-winning hidden identity and deduction game that was published in 2014 by Overworld Games.
Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor is designed by Brian Henk and Clayton Skancke, best known for Good Cop Bad Cop and New Salem, and developed with the help of Jamey Stegmaier of Stonemaier Games. The artist for Euphoria, Jacqui Davis, has signed on to do the illustrations for Leaders of Euphoria. It takes place when Euphoria was a young city and its citizens were choosing who they want to lead their city into the future.
More details on Leaders of Euphoria will be available on its Prefundia page over the coming months.

Overworld games has announced the launch of a US prohibition era themed social deduction game “Booze Barons”
PRESS RELEASE: Booze Barons Launches on Kickstarter!
Bootlegging, deduction, and booze…
San Francisco, CA – Overworld Games adds another hidden identity and social deduction game to their line with Booze Barons, designed by Jeremy Commandeur, which is now LIVE on Kickstarter. Booze Barons is a 30 minute, 3-9 player game that takes place in the 1920s US Prohibition era where each player is secretly bootlegging a home-brewed type of beer, wine, or liquor. There are always 3 teams in the game so you need to figure out which type of booze each player is bootlegging based on the deliveries they make and then expose them to the cops (if they’re not on your team). Take a look at this Choose Your Own Adventure, by E. Kokkila Schumacher, that introduces you to some of the characters and locations you’ll find in the game.
Booze Barons was playtested at Protospiel Houston, Protospiel Michigan, Protospiel Austin, Protospiel San Jose, and Unpub 5, so you can be confident in an extremely strong design. The illustrator is Derek Bacon, who is best known for the gorgeous art in Smash Monster Rampage and Tower – he will make you forget that the Prohibition Amendment was ever repealed. The designer takes you through his creation in this How to Play video. The campaign offers backers a chance to name their own booze types that will appear in the game and they can also back for a premium GameTrayz upgrade to make setup quick and easy.
