North America

A new distribution agreement has been struck to bring Horrible Games’ titles to the U.S. and Canada. The Italian-based publisher will have all games for the foreseeable future brought to North America by Canada-based publisher and distributor Luma Games. Horrible Games to be carried by this deal include hits like Potion Explosion, Dragon Castle, and Railroad Ink, but this will also include all future titles from the publisher as well. This is a mutually beneficial deal which will see more exposure for both companies across North America.

“Under the new agreement, Luma will distribute all our upcoming games, including Similo and The King’s Dilemma, and take over distribution of backlist games such as Potion Explosion, Dragon Castle, and Railroad Ink as existing stock sells down and new printings are done. Luma will also handle retail and event support for our catalog.”

Keen observers will notice that this is a huge boon for Horrible Games as Luma is taking over the exact same capacity that CMON did for all of their current catalog. While CMON will no longer be distributing the above-mentioned titles after the stock sells, the prolific publisher already has a release schedule and brand presence that is strong on it’s own. On the other hand, Luma has only been able to distribute a select few titles, such as Museum and Memoarrr!, and this partnership will surely escalate their outreach and footprint in the states through Horrible Games’ existing excellent catalog. FoxMind Toys and Games would like to announce their partnership with Mandoo Games to publish the North American version of Slide Blast, a fun and fast-paced family strategy tile laying game with easy rules and great components.

“In Slide Blast, by cleverly choosing and placing tiles, players try to build the longest slide, allowing them to engage in high-speed straightaways, gut-wrenching curves and mind blowing tunnels!  Players also gain extra points each time they make another player slide.”

Slide Blast is a game for 2-6 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in about 30 minutes.  It is expected to be released in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

The game will be showcased at the upcoming 2017 Toy Fairs in Nuremberg and New York.  For more information on this announcement, visit the publisher’s site here.

brick party

Are you better at building with plastic bricks… or explaining how to do it? What if you have to build with your eyes closed or using only one hand? What if you must explain it without speaking? Can you still be faster than your opponents?

Renegade Game Studios will be partnering with Italian publisher Post Scriptum to bring Brick Party to North America.  Brick Party is a “funny and frenzied game of crazy building”, in which players will reveal special rules for each round, choose a teammate, grab the blocks and build the shape you choose faster than the others players.

“We are really excited to be working with Mario and his team at Post Scriptum,” says Renegade President Scott Gaeta. “They put together something really special and we look forward to bringing it to gamers in North America.”

Brick Party will be available in stores in the early summer of 2016.  The games plays in 15-30 minutes and is for 2-9 players ages 5+.  It will be featured at the GAMA Trade Show in March of 2016 and will be available for preorder at the show.

Expansion into Lucas Oil Stadium allows Gen Con to keep offering more gaming, exhibition, and entertainment options each year.”

One of the main events that will be hosted in the stadium will be the popular True Dungeon event, which creates an immersive environment where players can solve puzzles and battle giant monsters.

The prestigious and coveted Spiel des Jahres award nominees are once again receiving great attention, the three nominees for 2015 being Machi Koro (IDW Games), Colt Express (Ludonaute) and the lesser-known-in-North-America card game The Game (Nürnberger-Spielkarten-Verlag and IDW Games).

IDW Games has announced that they will be publishing the game in North America under the same title, The Game.  The Game is a cooperative card game for 1-5 players in which cards are played into one of four different piles with the hopes of discarding all 98 cards.  Players are not, however, allowed to share what cards they have with the other players, which can upset the best laid plans.

The Game is scheduled to become available in September of 2015.
